IIM Calcutta Admission criteria 2020-22: IIM Calcutta (IIMC) has released the result for admission to the MBA program for the academic year 2020-2022. While shortlisting the candidates for final admission, authorities have not considered the weightage is given to WAT for final selection. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak and government advisories, institute decided to drop WAT round.

Earlier the authorities released the application form for shortlisted candidates. Authorities announced the list of shortlisted students for GD/PI rounds. Further, authorities announced the admission criteria for PGP programme for batch 2020-22.

IIM Calcutta Admission Criteria 2020 takes into the following components like minimum CAT percentile cutoffs, short-listing for PI and WAT process, and criteria for final selection for the PGDM programme, work experience, academic record for admission into Postgraduate Diploma in Management (PGDM).

As per IIM Calcutta Admission Criteria 2020-22, The first step is to get shortlisted on the basis of cat exam percentile. After that, shortlisting criteria, and final selection parameters and assigned weightages, the admission criteria of IIM Calcutta 2020-22 has similar to the last year. Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree with minimum 50 percent marks or equivalent CGPA (45 per cent for SC, ST and PwD category candidates).

IIM Calcutta Admission Criteria 2020-22: Selection Process

The selection of the candidates for admission to the 2020-22 batch of the PGP at IIM Calcutta is a three-step process:

Step 1: Minimum CAT percentile cutoffs to be considered for PI and WAT process

In CAT 2020 there has three sections, i.e. Verbal Ability (VA), Quantitative Aptitude(QA) and Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR). The minimum requirements of securing minimum section-wise and overall percentiles in CAT 2020 to be considered for short-listing candidates is given below:

Candidates securing the above-mentioned minimum percentile in CAT 2020 in every category will only be evaluated for calculation of their composite score in Stage II. Please note that the actual section-wise and overall percentile of a short-listed candidate may be much higher than the above-mentioned criteria as it will depend upon the number of candidates to be called for interview (CFI) in every category.

Step 2: Shortlisting for PI and WAT process

Once the candidates are shortlisted on the basis of CAT cutoff as prescribed by the institute, their past academic records was estimated. And the shortlisted candidates are called for the selection rounds i.e.,Personal Interview and Writing Test. For calculating, the percentage of marks secured in Class X and Class XII, the aggregate marks of all subjects that appear in the mark sheet would be evaluate irrespective of whether the Board considers them for calculation of percentage or not.

IIM Calcutta Admission Criteria 2020-22: Computation of percentages at Bachelor’s level

Bachelor’s Degree completed

The percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in the graduation (bachelor’s degree) would be calculated based on the practice followed by the university/institution from where the candidate has obtained the degree. In case a candidate is granted grades/CGPA instead of marks, the conversion of grades/CGPA to percentage of marks would be based on the procedure certified by the university/ institution from where graduation has been obtained. In case the university/ institution does not have any way for converting CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by dividing the candidate’s CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the result with 100.

Bachelor’s Degree not completed

The aggregate percentage of marks secured in all the semester/year at the time of filling in the cat exam online application will only be considered for granting points.

Dual Degree

The percentage of marks to be considered will be as described in the degree certificate.

The composite cutoff score is used for short-listing the candidates for the PI stage in each category. Shortlisted candidates will have to appear for Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds.

Step 3: Final Selection Criteria

For the final selection, IIM calcutta considers CAT 2019 score, performance in WAT-PI rounds, academic diversity in Graduation, and work experience. Take a look at the weightages assigned to each factor.

Work Experience

or work experience, a maximum of eight points will be granted based on the length of service as on January 31, 2020. However, only managerial work experience after graduation will be evaluated.

The final selection list will be based on merit in every category; minimum eligibility in any of the above mentioned stages or criteria would not automatically qualify the candidate for admission into IIM Calcutta.
